Sony ha riportato in un suo intervento che Playstation 4 avrebbe ottenuto da DFC Intelligence il titolo di “world’s biggest console launch”, grazie agli oltre 2 milioni di unità vendute al debutto. Inoltre, sempre secondo DFC Intelligence, PS4 sarà la regina in questa generazione di console, rubando la scena a Xbox One, anche se non raggiungerà il titolo di “console più venduta di sempre”:
“The initial success of the PlayStation 4 bodes well for its future. The PlayStation 2 and Wii went on to be the best selling console systems ever. DFC Intelligence does not believe that the PlayStation 4 will surpass those systems but reiterates its forecast that the PS4 will be the number one system of this generation,” the firm said, although it believes the PS4 may outsell the PS3, something Sony is bang behind.”
Playstation 2 e Wii resteranno quindi nella vetta delle console di maggior successo, ma Playstation 4 sarà la più gettonata per quanto riguarda la “current gen”, con buone probabilità che ottenga addirittura vendite superiori rispetto a quelle che Sony ha registrato con Playstation 3.
Viene inoltre fatto notare che Xbox One ha anch’essa raggiunto i 2 milioni di unità vendute nello stesso periodo, ma DFC riterrebbe che questa console sia in generale appetibile per un pubblico più ristretto. Ci si aspetta comunque un ulteriore incremento delle vendite con l’uscita di Titanfall.
Punzecchiata finale da DFC per quanto riguarda Nintendo: secondo le previsioni Wii U venderà la metà rispetto a quanto si era registrato con Wii.
Anche Strauss Zelnick, a capo di Take Two, si aspetta un grande successo per PS4, tale addirittura da surclassare sia Ps3 che Xbox 360.
