Anche Amazon si butta nel settore dei set-top-box, offrendo l’Amazon Fire TV, un dispositivo da collegare al televisore di casa che tramite la connessione Wi-Fi permette di accedere ai più svariati contenuti multimediali, a trasmissioni on demand, e ad un vasto catalogo di giochi.

Basato su piattaforma Android, il dispositivo offre la riproduzione di contenuti in 1080p, e potrà essere acquistato al prezzo di 99$. La dotazione hardware prevede una Cpu quad core, affiancata a 2 Gb di memoria Ram e Gpu dedicata, promettendo sulla carta delle buone prestazioni, sia per quanto riguarda la reattività nel navigare tra i menù e nel caricare i video, sia sul versante ludico.

A tal proposito è stato annunciato che saranno disponibili sin da subito ben 96 giochi, di cui 24 scaricabili gratuitamente. Si potrà inoltre utilizzare un apposito controller, acquistabile separatamente al prezzo di 39.99$.

Ciliegina sulla torta la possibilità di collegare il proprio Kindle Fire, che offre l’accesso a informazioni aggiuntive sui contenuti in riproduzione e permette il controllo in remoto di Fire TV.
